Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, in its latest effort to establish a motorsports presence, has started taking orders for its first race car.
It plans to deliver the race car to Chinese customers under the Lynk & CO brand starting in the first quarter of next year, Geely Group said last week.
The vehicle, the Lynk &CO 03 TCR, features a two-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 350 hp and 420 Nm of torque. It is front-wheel driven and fitted with a six-speed sequential gearbox.
The car, along with the driver, weighs 1,265 kilograms, according to the Chinese group.
Geely Group formed a motorsports arm in 2018. The unit has dual headquarters –- one in the east China city of Hangzhou where the group is based, and the other in the Swedish city of Gothenburg, where its subsidiary Volvo Car Corp. is headquartered.
In mid-2018, the unit started developing the Lynk & CO 03 TCR. The race car made its racing debut at the 2019 FIA World Touring Car Cup in Marrakech, Morocco, in April.
Lynk & CO was unveiled in 2017 as a premium car brand jointly owned by Geely Group and Volvo. Lynk & CO vehicles share a platform with Volvo XC4.
In 2017, Geely Group also obtained a 51 percent stake in the British sports car brand Lotus as part of a deal to acquire a 49.9-percent interest in struggling Malaysian carmaker Proton from local business conglomerate DRB-Hicom.午夜剧院
